Who we are
eStar Tuition (“we”, “us”) provides one-to-one and group tutoring at GCSE and A-level, and help with applications to medicine and university. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the data controller.

What we collect
When you book a free call
- Your name, email address and phone number
- The student’s year group and the subject you’re interested in
- Which button you used and which advert or link brought you to the site
When you sign up for 5-a-Day Science
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Whether you’ve agreed to hear from us about tutoring
Your 5-a-Day scores and ticked-off days are kept in your own browser. They are not sent to us.
When a student is tutored with us
- Student and parent or guardian contact details
- Session records: dates, topics covered, tutor notes, homework, progress reports and grades
- Messages sent through the student portal, and files uploaded by the student or tutor
- Login details for the student portal (we never see your password)

How we use it and why

Children’s information
Most of our students are under 18. We collect only what we need to teach them well, and we deal with a parent or guardian for bookings and payments. Parents and guardians can ask to see the information we hold about their child at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that run our website and tutoring systems, and only so they can do that job:
- Virtuecore, who build and maintain our website, booking and portal systems
- Supabase, which stores our records and runs student portal logins
- n8n, which processes form submissions and sends our emails
- Google, for email and Google Analytics
- Meta, to measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts
- Our website hosting provider
We may also share information where the law requires it, or to protect a child’s safety.
International transfers
Some of these providers store or process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to tutoring: up to 12 months
- 5-a-Day sign-ups: until you ask us to remove you, or 24 months without contact
- Student records: for as long as we tutor the student, then up to 6 years for legal and accounting purposes
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to or restrict how we use it
- ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it

Cookies
Cookies and similar browser storage let the site remember things about your visit.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without the Meta and Google cookies.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
